Chateaufort Place reflects and is a part of a larger and unique community, the Lafayette Park Historic District.  This urban oasis, with its blending of nature and modern architecture, enjoys a reputation as one of the most successful examples of urban planning and renewal.  This thriving and stimulating community, surrounding a park, is historically significant for some of its architectural and community design concepts, but also prided for its continuing stability and diversity.

Chateaufort enjoys a location that is near many of the city’s major attractions and has quick access to freeways.  At Chateaufort Place, you can enjoy nature and serene living, yet have downtown Detroit your doorstep.  It is a healthy walk or no more than 5-minute drive or 20-minute walk to some the city’s major attractions:

A few minutes walking distance from Chateaufort is one of Detroit’s greatest treasures, the Eastern Market.  At this vibrant market, one can buy locally grown produce from its farmers’ stalls and purchase meat, poultry, seafood, or food items from one of its specialty stores.

Immediately across from the cooperative complex lies the Dequindre Cut Greenway.  This walking/jogging/biking path extends from the Eastern Market to the riverfront.
